The LG Optimus G may not have received Jelly Bean just yet, but it did get certified as Carbon-Free from the CarbonFund Foundation. Along with other LG products, including refrigerators, washing machines, ovens and vacuum cleaners, the Optimus G was found to be environmentally friendly throughout the entire process of procuring raw materials, production, distribution, use, and disposal. This follows a trend LG started with the equally-green Optimus Elite.
We worry a lot about things like updates and market share, but as temporary users of this planet we should also care about the impact our hobby has on the environment. While any manufacturing process will leave some scars, it's refreshing to see companies try to be as gentle as possible on this blue marble. And don't forget we can do our own part by responsibly disposing of our tech toys when they have outlived their usefulness. Your carrier store or local Best Buy (among other retailers) will be happy to dispose of non-working electronics and send them off for recycling.
Kudos LG.

I always say that when buying Mexico real estate, one of the key items for the buyers is to work with a?Mexico agent who offers excellent communication.? Good communication using all the technology we have out there now is a key factor in gaining the best end result ? a dream property in Mexico.? The same is true for the process of building a home in Mexico.
If property owners choose to work with a professional construction coordinator, one of the most important points which they will have to consider is that of communication and tracking progress from a distance.
Communication
A growing number of construction professionals in the Riviera Maya (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, etc.), for example, work primarily with non-Mexican clients who are out of the country for most of the construction process.? Architect Gian Luca says that he has had numerous clients where he has actually never met them in person!? While most property owners will want to meet these professionals in person, it demonstrates the amount of flexibility and ease of communication that has developed.
Most professionals who work with such clients make heavy use of the internet, often offering a secure system with a password where clients can review all details of the construction progress.? These reports include:
In such a system, clients can log in any time they want and review the details.? Reports are usually made at regular intervals ? weekly and biweekly are common.? With cell phones, laptops, digital cameras and digital video cameras on site, the construction professionals can contact the client immediately in the event of important news or change (see below), offering pictures of any advancement or situation immediately; clients can also make nearly immediate contact to clarify any questions.
Webcams and programs like Skype also make video conferencing free.
For those who are used to using the latest internet services, the process is fairly straight forward.? For those who aren?t, as Hawthorne Flaherty, who works primarily in the?Tulum real estate area, says, ?Sometimes it?s a little more laborious, but once you get the swing of it, it?s not so hard.?
Of course, those who aren?t comfortable with the latest technology can request to have updates by phone call and e-mails for pictures and numbers.

Sharing knowledge on the web can be a very powerful way to establish your online presence and credibility. First, you write a thoughtful and informative article on an topic in your area of expertise. Then you submit it to e-zines to be read by the general public and possibly re-published on other web sites. Appended to the end of your article is a resource box containing a brief promotional message linking to your web site. Webmasters who wish to reprint your article on their sites are required to include your resource box along with any live links to your site. The benefit that you get from your article is two-fold. First, your article will be read by visitors to the e-zine site. If they find it helpful and interesting, they will likely visit your web site to see what else you had to offer. Second, webmasters who find your article useful to their visitors may re-publish it on their sites, giving your article additional exposure. Every time your article is re-published on a web site, you gain an additional one-way link to your site through the live link in your resource box. This adds to your link popularity and ultimately increases your search engine rankings. As you can see, the true potential of your article lies in its ability to propagate virally in cyberspace. For your article to propagate virally, it should appeal to both readers and webmasters alike. Keep in mind that your goal is hold your readers attention long enough for them to get to the resource box. If your article is boring and uninformative, few people will read it beyond the first or second paragraph. Below are some pointers to consider when writing an article: 1. Give your article a catchy title. Your title is the first and often the only thing that visitors see when they skim through a list of articles on an e-zine page. Put some thought into coming up with a title that grabs the reader?s attention right away. Words like Secrets,Free, and Successful tend to attract more attention than others. 2. Your article should not read like an ad. Most people read articles to find information they can use, not to see a pitch about your products or services. If they see your article as nothing more than a shameless act of self promotion, they?ll get turned off and hit the Back button right away. Put yourself in the reader?s shoes. What benefits do you want to get out of reading an article? Cater to your reader?s interests rather than your own. 3. Offer lots of free, useful information. Following on the last tip, keep in mind that your readers are looking for specific how-to instructions to help them achieve a certain goal. Offer lots of tangible information that is immediately useful to them. Do not lead them through hoops just to get to an order 4) Avoid gimmicks. While it may be true that a sucker is born every minute, most internet users are sophisticated enough to tell what?s legitimate and what?s not. Write with the intention of offering something substantial to the reader. Be honest and forthright. Your article should not cause the reader to think, What is this guy trying to sell me? 5) Be succinct. Get to the point quickly, preferably in the first or second paragraph. Avoid lengthy paragraphs. Use lots of white space to separate your paragraphs to make them easier to read. 6) Your article should not be too short. Certainly, it?s possible to write a good article packed with useful information using just a couple hundred words. If your article is too short, however, some webmasters may feel hesitant to reprint it on their sites. They may, instead, borrow your ideas and write their own articles, gaining authorship without having to give you credit for your ideas. How long should your article be? I suggest at least 500 words, preferably longer. Longer articles give webmasters the impression that you have put some time and effort into your work and, thus, are deserving of being reprinted on their sites. 7) Use live (clickable) links in your resource box. Many e-zines permit clickable links in resource boxes. Yet, many authors forgo this privilege by simply spelling out their URLs. Whenever permitted, you should spell out your URL as well as make it clickable (e.g. http://www.nexcomp.com/weblaunch). The advantages of a clickable URL are, (1) readers can go to your site simply by clicking on it, and more importantly, (2) search engines will be able to record the ezine page containing your article as a link your web site, adding to your link popularity and search engine rankings. Avoid hyping in your resource box. Your resource box, while promotional in nature, should be brief and tasteful. The purpose of your resource box is not to sell your readers something, but to lead them to your website which does the actual selling. Your resource box should contain your name, your company name, a brief description of your products or services, your web site?s URL, and a clickable link to your site. 9) Put some thought and effort into your writing. E-zines have varying standards for accepting articles, and some accept and publish all submissions without any human review at all. However, this does not mean you should write an article just for sake of having it published somewhere. If your article comes off as half-baked, readers may make a similar assumption about you and your business practices. 10) Submit your article to as many e-zines as feasible. There are dozens of e-zines on the web that welcome submissions from independent authors. Ideally, you?d want your article to be exposed on as many of them as you can.

Lost in the reports and debates regarding Tim Tebow?s Wildcat tap out is the fact that the situation sparked the latest case of ESPN-on-ESPN crime.
Actually, it was more like an ESPN Battle Royal.
It started when Rich Cimini and Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com jointly reported on Sunday that Tebow asked to be omitted from the Wildcat package in Week 16 because the coaching staff had skipped over him when benching Mark Sanchez.? (You know, the same way the Broncos skipped over Brady Quinn when benching Kyle Orton in 2011.)
In an effort to control the damage, Tebow provided his version of the events to Adam Schefter of ESPN.? In exchange for the exclusive scoop, Schefter obviously had no choice but to pass along Tebow?s tale as he told it, without scrutiny or skepticism or cynicism.
And Tebow didn?t say that he had asked out of the Wildcat package, necessarily putting the spirit if not the letter of the two ESPN reports at odds.
But the conflict didn?t become obvious until Schefter, Merril Hoge, and Ron Jaworski appeared on the air to discuss the situation, via USAToday.com.? Schefter started by dutifully repeated what he had reported, without comment or opinion or editorial.
Enter Jaworski and Hoge, both of whom pressed Schefter for clarity as to the notion that Tebow told coach Rex Ryan that he didn?t want to play in the Wildcat package.? Schefter reiterated the guts of his report, skipping over the most important piece of information, apparently because either Schefter didn?t ask or Tebow didn?t tell.
?To me, it smells like three-day-old fish, OK?? Hoge said of Tebow?s story, which came only from Schefter?s report.? ?I think he?s phony as a three-dollar bill.? Because at the end of the day, what have I heard?? That he will do anything at any time.? You ask me to do it, I?ll do it.? And all of a sudden now that?s unacceptable?? That?s all of a sudden, ?Now I want to play quarterback or I?m not gonna play Wildcat?? . . . ? Tim Tebow, being the teammate he says he is, accepts that.? Because he says I?ll do anything for the team.? That?s all I?ve ever heard about him.? Well I think this sound shows really what he?s about.?
Jaworski then tried to suggest that Tebow never said he wouldn?t play Wildcat quarterback, citing derisively (and with air quotes) that it?s merely been ?reported? via ?sources.?? And in so doing, jumping off the top rope and landing on the work of Cimini and McManus.
Enter Schefter, who then explained that it was a ?culmination of a full season of frustration and disappointment,? and that ?somehow it?s morphed into ?I?m taking myself out.??
Hoge then made an observation that Schefter and Jaworski arguably ignored when subtly pile-driving the reporting of their colleagues, Cimini and McManus.? ?If you are for the team and that is what you do care about,? Hoge said, ?then guess what?? Whatever that coach makes, that decision, sure you can be upset, but you still do what you can for the team.? You don?t make a rift, you don?t sit there and argue.?
Next, Jaworski revisited the question of whether Tebow said what Cimini and McManus claim he said.? ?I want Tim Tebow, if this was said, to say on Tuesday, ?I told Rex Ryan I don?t want to take the Wildcat snaps,?? Jaworski said.? ?We?ve got a lot of hearsay here.?
And in that one swing, Jaworski again questioned the veracity of his colleagues? original report and indirectly chided Schefter for not asking the obvious follow-up questions when talking to Tebow.
Either way, it should be no surprise that the implosion of Tebow?s 2012 season created chaos at the network that was devoted to covering it.

At the centre of the war in Afghanistan, West Yorkshire?s brave serving troops still have their family and friends in their hearts and minds in the run up to Christmas.
British soldiers in the war zone were sent over five times more letters and parcels than usual this week, with loved ones posting around 18,000 bags of mail weighing over 130 tonnes.
Servicemen and women are keener than ever to pass on their Christmas messages as they work through the festivities in blustery desertscapes.
Trooper Jamie Beales, who is from Leeds, is currently serving at Main Operating Base Price, near Gereshk, Afghanistan.
He said: ?I wish all my family and friends a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
?Also happy birthday to my dad and sister Paige.?
Leeds Trooper Jack Taylor is serving with the Nahr-e-Saraj (NES) District Advisory Team.
His message said: ?Merry Christmas to my girlfriend Private Bianca Smith ? looking forward to R and R and some festive activities.?
Another local soldier out with the NES District Advisory Team, Lance Corporal Scott Rothery, from Leeds, added: ?Merry Christmas and I?m looking forward to being a Dad and to R and R.?
Their messages come as items including new socks, gloves and sweets flood into Camp Bastion, Afghanistan.
The gifts are dished out to units operating in smaller, remote bases by helicopter and trucks.
Yesterday, bags of mail were stacked up at the passenger handling facility in Bastion, known as ?mini Heathrow?, ready to be flown to patrol bases and checkpoints in time for Christmas.
Guardsman Tom Oates, from Leeds, is currently serving in Forward Operating Base Oulette.
He said: ?I wish all my family a very merry Christmas and a happy new year and a special Christmas to my girlfriend Sarah, I love you loads. See you all next year.?
Fellow Forward Operating Base Oulette worker Lance Bombardier David Mackwell, from Leeds, said: ?I wish all my family back home a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. Have a drink on me?.
Castleford Lance Corporal Colin Walstow, who is serving in Patrol Base Hayatullah, Afghanistan, said: ?Merry Christmas to everyone back home, hope it?s a good one and be sure to have a drink for me.?
As well as packages and cards, the army has also processed around 11,500 e-blueys, an electronic way of sending a letter, over the festive period, which can be sent electronically from the UK and are printed in Camp Bastion.
The machines fold up and seal the letters to ensure privacy is maintained.

Posted on December 18, 2012 By NigerianReviews REVIEWS, SOCIAL MEDIA
It is obvious that social media websites are taking over the internet and that new users are signing up every second. Social media sites are by far some of the fastest growing businesses online. It seems that our generation cannot get enough of social media and what it has to offer. No matter how many types of social media sites are out there, new ones keep appearing and capture our attention.
What makes these places so popular? What is different about each of them?
Well each is different in its own way but they all offer the same benefit which is to share personal content with others worldwide. How great is it knowing that you can take a photo or write a post, share it with thousands (or millions) of people, receive comments, and interact with others at the same time? It is amazing how quickly internet content can become popular or ?viral?. Once you share something unique with a social media website and it takes off, you can become famous overnight. Maybe that is part of the reason why today?s youth is so obsessed with social media. Or maybe there are other reasons.
There are millions of teens and even pre-teens on these websites who are interacting with each other and posting content every second. Sharing photos and thoughts with friends can be fun and creates great discussions but when does it go too far? How many of these kids are actually using social media for the right reasons? I see social media websites as a way to share your personality with others, connect with people who share similar interests, and stay updated with friends and family. Do your kids use these sites for these reasons??
So social media can be very useful and such a great tool, but it can also create problems in someone?s life if used the wrong way. You will read in the news about kids bullying others on Facebook and how it even leads to suicide. You may also read that kids are lashing out at their parents publicly. The negative list goes on and on, but who?s to blame (kids, parents, or both)? When should parents step in and how strict should they be? What should the age requirement be to use a social media website??Is social media good OR bad for our kids? These are more questions I have heard and am asking all of you.
Please give your honest, straight forward opinion on this subject. Thank you for reading!

NEW YORK (AP) ? Hundreds mourned Hector Camacho on Saturday in the landmark East Harlem church the fighter attended as a boy, and hundreds more cheered and shouted "Macho" when his coffin was carried out and loaded into a hearse afterward.
"Hector lived the American dream, to come from simple beginnings and to be known by thousands of people," the Rev. Frank Skelly said. "He could lift us up, and he could break our hearts. He could inspire us and at times disappoint us."
Camacho, a native of Puerto Rico who moved to East Harlem as a child, was shot in the face Nov. 20 while sitting in a parked car with a friend outside a bar in Bayamon, his hometown in the U.S. territory. The friend, Adrian Mojica Moreno, died at the scene. The boxer died after doctors removed him from life support.
Police have said they have suspects but have not yet arrested anyone for the shooting.
There was no mention of Camacho's bloody end during the service at St. Cecilia, an imposing brick and terra cotta church that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Skelly, the church's former pastor, said he remembered Camacho as a child in the 1970s.
"I really didn't see much of Hector after he left our school, so I still see him as a little boy, and I think that's how God sees him," the priest said. "Everything else is not important."
Justin Camacho, one of the fighter's four sons, read a scriptural passage.
The 50-year-old Camacho's coffin was carried into the church draped in a Puerto Rican flag; the flag was replaced by a white cloth adorned with a cross during the service.
Mourners waved flags and hoisted newspapers with Camacho's picture on the front page.
"I still can't believe it happened to him," said Tanya Espana, who met Camacho in the 1990s through a friend and brought a book of snapshots that documented their friendship. "Macho was very caring, very loving."
Known for his flamboyant displays in the ring, Camacho won super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s and fought high-profile bouts against Felix Trinidad, Julio Cesar Chavez and Sugar Ray Leonard. He had a career record of 79-6-3.
The church was about half-filled with a few hundred mourners, but hundreds more waited behind police barricades across the street and cheered the coffin. Burial followed at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
The funeral capped two days of mourning in the neighborhood known as Spanish Harlem where the slain former world champion fighter grew up.
On Friday, hundreds of fans turned out for the public wake and watched as a carriage drawn by white horses carried Camacho's body through the streets.

PCB introduces dope testing during Faysal Bank T-20 ? Cricket News Update
As per World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) regulations, the Pakistan Cricket Board will be conducting dope tests on players participating in the ongoing Faysal Bank T-20 tournament, which kicked off in Lahore today on December 1.
?The PCB is introducing in-competition dope testing during the Twenty20 tournament in order to strive for drug-free sports and to protect the basic framework for the athletes,? said a statement by the board. ?Cricketers from all the regional teams participating in the Twenty20 championship will randomly be picked for dope testing.
?These tests will be conducted by WADA-accredited independent doping control officers throughout the competition.?
The tournament, due to be played from December 1 to 9 at various venues in Lahore, features numerous regional teams, and the PCB went on the reveal that roughly 500 first-class cricketers had already been educated on the subject of doping. This education included a series of lectures on the subject, in addition to which the board also provided the players a guide in Urdu, a CD to supplement the lectures, and list of banned drugs.
Drugs scandals in the sport during recent times can be traced back to 2003, when Australian spin bowler Shane Warne was banned for a year, for using a diuretic. Since then, several cases of players using banned performance-enhancing substances have come to light.
Pakistan has faced its share of doping scandals in the past, the most well-publicised being the bans imposed on pacers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif in October 2006, when both players tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone, banned for its performance-enhancing qualities.
Akhtar was banned for two years, while Asif was handed a one year ban, after both were found guilty by a three-man drugs tribunal put together by the PCB. Later, the bans were overturned on appeal and both were acquitted in December by a review committee.
However, the PCB will be aiming to avoid any such unpleasant controversies, and the Pakistani first-class cricketers participating in the domestic T20 tournament will be subject to random dope testing. The group stages of the competition will last from December 1 to 7, after which two semi-finals will be played, on December 8, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, followed by the tournament final at the same venue on the 9th.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) ? Jarvis Landry helped LSU keep the SEC championship in reach with a 20-13 win over Arkansas on Friday.
Now the receiver and the rest of the No. 8 Tigers must sit back and wait while their next destination ? perhaps next weekend's SEC championship game ? is played out elsewhere.
Landry's spectacular, reaching, one-handed touchdown catch late in the first half helped LSU (10-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) hold off the reeling Razorbacks. It marked the sixth time in eight seasons that the Tigers have reached double-digit wins under coach Les Miles.
LSU must now hope for an Alabama loss to Auburn (not likely) and Texas A&M victory against Missouri (very possible) on Saturday in order to win the SEC West and earn a trip to Atlanta. Even without a division crown, the Tigers could still get an at-large bid to the BCS.
"We'll take the next day and a half or so and watch TV tomorrow and be excited about it, and move forward and see how things go," Miles said.
Zach Mettenberger passed for 217 yards and hooked up with Landry for the play of the day with 1:12 left in the first half to put LSU up 10-0. The Tigers were outgained 462-306 in total yardage, but they were able to hold off record-setting performances by Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson and receiver Cobi Hamilton.
Wilson was 31 of 52 passing for the Razorbacks (4-8, 2-6) whose fall from preseason top 10 is now complete. The senior set the school record for career passing yards in the loss, while Hamilton set the school record for receptions in a career with 175.
The records were a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for a Razorbacks team that struggled mightily following the April firing of former coach Bobby Petrino. Arkansas was 21-5 the last two seasons and entered the season with SEC and national championship expectations, but it was eliminated from the bowl picture following last week's loss at Mississippi State.
"We kind of stuck together (through) all the adversity," Hamilton said. "We're still brothers. We're still the same 2012 team that everybody had high expectations for. But we just stuck together."
The Tigers took at 17-3 lead early in the third quarter after a 1-yard touchdown run by Jeremy Hill, who finished with 77 yards rushing on 18 carries. The touchdown followed an 86-yard kickoff return by Michael Ford to the Arkansas 9.
It also appeared to be the clincher for LSU, though the Razorbacks rallied behind the combination of Wilson and Hamilton.
Wilson passed former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallet's mark of 7,493 yards passing in the second quarter, finishing with 359 yards in the game and 7,765 yards for his career, and his 28-yard touchdown pass to freshman Mekale McKay in the third quarter closed the LSU lead to 17-10.
After forcing a Tigers' punt, the Razorbacks used a key fourth-and-1 conversion to set up another scoring opportunity. Wilson found Jonathan Williams for a 37-yard completion on the fourth down at midfield, helping to set up a second-and-goal at the LSU 1.
Arkansas was unable, however, to find the end zone on its next two plays. Interim coach John L. Smith then elected to kick a 17-yard field goal, which backup kicker John Henson converted to close the Tigers' lead to 17-13.
The Razorbacks never did find the end zone again, bringing a likely end to the Arkansas career of Smith ? who was signed to a 10-month contract following Petrino's firing.
"That's the right call," Smith said of the field goal attempt. "I mean, you have to score twice to win it, don't you? At least, I think you had to score twice to win it unless my math was wrong. So do you take it there? You have to take the sure points and then come back you have to score again anyway. So that was the thought, and I think that's the right call."
The Razorbacks had one final chance in the closing seconds, but Wilson's second-down attempt from the LSU 18 was over the head of McKay as time expired.
LSU's final score came on a 27-yard field goal by Drew Alleman with 1:26 remaining, giving it a 20-13 lead. The score came after a key 47-yard third-down completion from Mettenberger to Odell Beckham, who finished with eight catches for 112 yards.
The Tigers led 10-0 at halftime in their first game in Fayetteville since 1992. They did so despite gaining the same 165 yards of total offense as the Razorbacks, whose season-long series of miscues continued in the half.
Arkansas, next to last in the SEC in red-zone offense, squandered three scoring opportunities in the half. Dennis Johnson fumbled near the LSU goal line on the game's opening drive, and kicker Zach Hocker misfired on a pair of field goal attempts before being benched in favor of Henson in the second half.
LSU's first touchdown came late in the first half when Mettenberger found Landry in the back of the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown. Landry had to reach back over his wrong shoulder to stretch out and snare the ball with his right hand, landing well in bounds.
"I felt that the throw kind of kept me in bounds," Landry said. "I felt that if he had led me any, there was a possibility I could have been out of bounds.
"It's just one of those throws where Zach trusted me, and I just went up and made it."
Hamilton finished with 10 catches for 98 yards in his final game at Arkansas, finishing his career with 175 catches. His record broke the former mark of 168 catches, set last year by Minnesota Vikings' rookie Jarius Wright.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A metro family lost their home and business in a fire Thursday, but is giving thanks they survived the blaze.
?That is a blessing, and that is the main thing," said homeowner Luther Walker. "We have our lives and our health and we got our dog."
He and his wife run a small concrete and construction business from their home. He's not sure what effect this fire will have on the couple?s ability to continue work.
The fire started around 9:45 a.m. at the Walker home in the 3400 block of Delavan in Kansas City, Kan., just off of I-635.
Walker said that even though his home-based concrete business was destroyed along with the 100-plus-year-old house, he?s thankful he and his family are alive.
Also inside the home were Walker?s wife, their teenage daughter, a son home from school at Kansas State University and the family dog, Brownie.
Nobody was injured.
KCK Fire Chief Craig Duke said an electrical issue is believed to have caused the fire. He said the family reported the lights had been flickering lately in the home when the wind blew.
?He did indicate they were doing some electrical work. They had some electrical issues: flickering lights and some other issues," Duke said. "They had an electrician out trying to find what the issue was.?
Wind played a factor in fire crews? strategies.?
?Our crews got inside and as they got inside, the fire started pushing them back, the wind picked up," he explained.
Because of the swift wind and age of the building, firefighters had to fight the blaze from outside of the building?s perimeter.

??When the level of performance reaches as high as it did during the semifinals round this week, pretty much any elimination is a shocker. But as Tuesday's cuts proved, there's still room for surprise.
