Adam 'MCA' Yauch A Hip-Hop 'Pioneer': Rappers React

Russell Simmons, Q-Tip, Snoop Dogg and more fellow MCs tweet tributes to fallen Beastie Boy.

It is impossible to sum up the life and career of Adam Yauch in 140 characters, but when the hip-hop community learned of MCA's death on Friday (May 4), rap figures from all over sent their love via Twitter.

Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons was the first to break the news on his GlobalGrind website, and soon after, he sent a message via Twitter with a link to a statement he wrote on his site. "RIP Adam Yauch. My thoughts...," he wrote linking to a page that read: "Adam was incredibly sweet and the most sensitive artist, who I loved dearly. I was always inspired by his work. He will be missed by all of us."

Simmons' nephew Diggy also took to Twitter to quote a lyric from the group's 1986 jam "Paul Revere," proving that Yauch's musical influence was strong even on rap's new generation. "'Now my name is MCA I got a license to kill, I think you know what time it is it's time to get ill' Wooow... RIP," he wrote.

Slaughterhouse member Joell Ortiz simply tweeted, "NO SLEEP TO BROOKLYN" in all caps, referencing the Beasties' ode to BK.

Rapper Q-Tip shared a more personal message, sending his condolences out to the trio's surviving members. "RIP yauch and thank u mike and adam n adam 4 all of your help, the tours, the bball games, n great times. a humanitarian a tru friend," he sent from his QtipTheAbstract handle.

Snoop Dogg, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD's DJ Scratch and Brooklyn underground lyricist Skyzoo all tweeted as well, labeling Yauch either a legend, icon, pioneer or a combination of the three. "RIP MCA U are a Legend and a pioneer. #BeastieBoys4life," Snoop lamented.

Former Maybach Music affiliate Pill credited Yauch, the Beasties and their track "The New Style" with inspiring his breakout underground track "Trap Goin' Ham." "The main reason I chose the 'Trap Goin Ham' beat was because of the Beastie Boys sample. True hip hop pioneers," he respectfully wrote.

"A VERY SPECIAL R.I.P. TO ADAM YAUCH FROM THE BEASTIE BOYS MY BROTHER YOU ARE GONNA BE TRULY MISSED MY HEART IS HEAVY.....," rap luminary Biz Markie said on his Twitter.

As the hip-hop community continues to send a steady stream of R.I.P. messages and well-wishes, it is clear Adam Yauch was loved, respected and one of a kind.

When not chucking wood, S Voice does such menial searches as voice dialing, sending text messages, searching contacts, find navigation routes, records memos, adds to your schedule and can set tasks, among other items.

But, really, it's all about the woodchuck.

If you're a smartphone fan (of course you are, if you're not then you're almost certainly in the wrong place, can we ask how you even got here?) then you've almost certainly been bitten by the bug of a battery that just doesn't last long enough, the normal side effect of a data hungry lifestyle. HTC says it feels your pain however, and thinks it's done quite a bit to lick the issue with its latest flagship phone, the HTC One X. In reports consistent with our experience with the dual-core AT&T iteration, a blog post on the company's site notes several others that have tested it out and come away impressed with the battery life it shows. While our tests with the quad-core global version left something to be desired HTC says the One bests the old Sensation by as much as 147 percent when it comes to talk time, and 39 percent in video playback, while Anandtech had glowing recommendations for both versions. So, are you as impressed with HTC's engineering, or are you still pining for a larger RAZR Maxx-style battery bump?

While the star of today's Unpacked event is certainly Samsung's Galaxy S III, every hero can benefit from a few good sidekicks -- or in the case of this Android superphone, accessories. Up for offer will be a variety of goods including a flip cover, battery-charging stand, spare battery, car dock, "metallic docking stand" and HDMI adapter. Perhaps most interesting pieces, however, are the AllCast wireless dongle (which appears to be direct competition to HTC's Media Link HD video-mirroring device), a Wireless Charging Kit and an S-pebble MP3 player that plays nice with the scan and match feature in the Music Hub app. We're gathering all the details we can, so in the meantime grab a look at the gallery below.

'The Expendables 2' Trailer: Five Key Scenes

Sylvester Stallone and his team return to fight an unexpected threat in this action-packed trailer.

After teasing the film with exclusive posters and movie stills, the first full-length trailer for "The Expendables 2" finally dropped Thursday (May 3).

IGN premiered the preview to the action-packed film with an intro from Sylvester Stallone himself. "If you thought the first movie kicked some serious ass," Sly says, "you haven't seen anything yet." With an A-List cast including Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme and newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Chuck Norris, we don't doubt the "Rocky" actor's words.

The film follows the return of Barney Ross (Stallone) and his team as Mr. Church (Willis) enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like easy money. When one of their crew is murdered, however, the revenge they seek leaves them stranded in enemy territory having to combat an unexpected threat.

Swinging Into Action
The trailer opens with sirens blaring and the crew propelling down a zip-line into the middle of a forest. As you'd expect, the firing begins immediately as sparks start flying and a truck flips over — and we're only 30 seconds in. Just when you think Barney Ross and his team are the ones doing the ass-kicking, they're surrounded by the enemy. Lee Christmas (Statham) looks over Barney and asks, "That loaded?" Barney replies, "I hope so," and begins taking their captors down one by one with a hidden gun in his hand — or did he? The shot then cuts to newcomer Bill "The Kid" Timmons (Hemsworth), who is hiding in the trees with a smoking gun.

Time to Reload
The team loads their weapons as Barney tells the Kid, "Somebody's hooked." Protecting the world by taking out the bad guys with some heavy artillery — who wouldn't be? The next scene shows Lee in priest robes saying, "I now pronounce you man and knife," and cuts away before we catch a glimpse of who he inevitably stabs. The next clips show various members of the team speeding off on motorcycles, engaging in hand to hand combat, taking down helicopters and setting off explosion after explosion.

The Threat
Our villain comes in the form of Jean-Claude Van Damme (aptly named Jean Vilain) who's planning on using a very powerful chemical to change the balance of the world. World dominance, that's what every bad guy is after, right? As we see his team gathering, the tagline flashes across the screen, "When the threat is this great, everyone is expendable." If everyone's expendable, Barney is going to need a lot more men to get through this one.

Cue Chuck Norris and Arnold Schwarzenegger
Like clockwork the invincible Chuck Norris (Booker) approaches the camera walking away from cars engulfed in flames and smoke. (Cool guys don't look at explosions, remember?) Next is Arnold Schwarzenegger's (Trench) turn to get in a version of his classic tagline: "I'm back." As he says it, he leans out of a window wearing a band of bullets around his chest and casually smoking a cigar. Killing a few bad guys? Been there, done that.

The Plan
When Lee asks the plan of attack to stop the enemy, Barney says, "Track 'em, find 'em, kill 'em." And you guessed it, more explosions, more knife fights, and bullets, bullets, bullets. If you're looking for an action film, you will not be disappointed. One clip that stood out was Church pulling up in a tiny car and telling Trench to get in. He rips the door off the automobile as he climbs in and says, "My shoe is bigger than this car." It hints at the inevitable comedy involved in a film with an all-star cast. In the final sequence, Barney drives a plane into a tunnel and Lee says, "You're going to need a new plane." The two laugh as the screen fades to black.

"The Expendables 2" will explode into theaters August 17.
