Missing autistic Calif. boy sought amid high heat

MENIFEE, Calif. (AP) ? Hundreds of people will resume a search for an autistic 11-year-old boy who vanished over the weekend in Southern California, where temperatures have topped 100 degrees.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/15aun7t ) says more than 100 emergency workers and volunteers combed the dry, brown hills of Menifee on Monday looking for Terry Dewayne Smith Jr.

A volunteer tells KABC-TV that as many as 400 people will be out Tuesday in the region about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

The boy was last seen at his Menifee home Saturday night.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has been looking for the boy since Sunday, aided by bloodhounds, helicopters and searchers on horseback.

There's concern because he may not be carrying any food, water or his medication.
